Trip to Khenifra Rug Auction

Khenifra Rug Auction

Khenifra Rug Auction with Culture Vultures

 Friday February 5th

The premise of this cultural excursion is to experience the textile auction of the small market, middle atlas town, Khenfira. Whilst the weavers, typically women, sit on the side steps in curiosity, bids are pronounced and their woven wares paraded.  Friendly whole-sale merchants, who dwell in this souk square, are happy to assist in revealing facts and tales of the designs and handicraft involved as well as commit themselves in any bidding desired. A jewel for photography, starting in the late afternoon and continuing until every cloth has been given its plinth.

To prepare us for this wonder we will first arrive at the natural water source of Ouaoumana  for a feisty tagine and a marvel of fresh air.
